May 17 & 18 / 2014 @ Lake McClure

One of the most popular Fly-in's for the year for Hang Glider Pilots in California. Located in the Sierra Foothills just west of Coulterville(a small gold mining town situated along the southern end of Hwy 49).

Several of the Mission Soaring Center Staff will be heading there, including Ryan Brown from the shop and Eric Froehlich an instructor. To fly at the Fly-in you need to be a H3 rated pilot. Newer pilots without an intermediate rating can still come and enjoy hanging out with like minded pilots. Eric will be providing a site introduction with a thorough review of landing approaches and concerns in the LZ and as well provide pointers at launch.

The Fly-in is organized and run by members of the Mother Lode SkyRiders and includes a Speed Gliding Contest; Spot Landing Contest; Most tagged Pylons around the Flying Site; Duration; Longest Distance XC flight; and the infamous Wack Award. So if you really suck you can still win!

The Speed Gliding Contest is the first thing to either participate in and /or watch. Pilots need to carvan up the hill and be set-up before the approximate first launch at 9am.
